Somali Dutch UK recognises that the United Kingdom, like many democratic societies, faces significant social, economic, and political challenges. In recent years, public debate around immigration, integration, national identity, and community relations has at times become increasingly polarised. We are concerned by the growth of prejudice, misinformation, racism, Islamophobia, anti-migrant sentiment, and other forms of discrimination that can undermine social cohesion and create division within society.

We believe that no community should be blamed collectively for economic difficulties, social challenges, or political grievances. Such narratives risk deepening misunderstanding and can contribute to hostility, exclusion, and, in some cases, violence directed at Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, refugees, migrants, and other vulnerable groups.

Our response is not division, but engagement. We are committed to promoting dialogue, mutual respect, civic participation, and evidence-based discussion. We encourage all members of society to work together to address shared challenges while upholding the values of equality, justice, democracy, and the rule of law.

As a community-based organisation, we stand against all forms of racism, discrimination, hate crime, and extremism. We support efforts to build bridges between communities, challenge harmful stereotypes, and strengthen understanding between people of different backgrounds, faiths, and cultures.

We believe that a strong and cohesive society is one in which diversity is seen as a strength, every individual is treated with dignity and respect, and everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute to and benefit from the prosperity and wellbeing of the nation.
